Dr. Livy Uzoukwu, OON, SAN, FCArb hails from Ofeke Okabia, Orsu LGA, Imo State. He has the following law degrees: LL.B Honours, former University of Ife, Ile-Ife 1981; LLM in Jurisprudence, former Imo State University, Okigwe, 1990 and LLD in Constitutionalism, University of South Africa, Pretoria, 2010. He was among the youths in diverse fields drawn from across the world that attended the first-ever United Nations International Leadership Academy of the United Nations University, Amman, Jordan, in 1997 for leadership training. The programme also involved leadership training in Jordan, Israel, Palestine and Egypt. He was called to the Bar in 1982 and commenced legal practice after NYSC in 1983. In March 1988, he established his law firm. In January 1994, barely 11 years after his call to Bar, he was appointed Honourable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Imo State. He has the record of being the youngest Attorney General Imo State has ever had. In 1994 he brought unprecedented law reforms to the Imo State legal system when several laws were promulgated and replaced the applicability of outdated and obnoxious English laws in the State. His effort received national acclaim. From 1994-1996 he was a member of the Imo State Security Council, Imo State Boundary Commission, Imo State Magistrate/High Court Rules Committee, Council of Legal Education and Imo State Judicial Service Committee. Again, he was a member of the Imo State Judicial Service Commission from 17 March 2014-17 March 2019. He was re-appointed a member of the Commission in September 2019. He is a Fellow Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. In 1995, the State Government sought his consent to be nominated for appointment as a Judge of the High Court of Imo State. However, he politely declined as his preference was to attain the Senior Advocate of Nigeria rank. In 1999, he was conferred the ultimate rank of distinction in the legal profession, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). The youngest in Imo State to be so honoured. In 2008, the President of Nigeria conferred him with the National Honour of the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON). The conferment recognised his 'outstanding virtues and appreciation of his services to our country, Nigeria”. He is a prolific writer not only in legal literature but poetry. He is the author of Grundnorm of Nigeria. The book is a recommended text in some universities in the country. Grundnorm is the most complex and complicated part of jurisprudence. Dr Uzoukwu, SAN as a young lawyer, wrote the book on Grundnorm. It was presented to the public in Owerri on 4 April 1992. Chief Clem Akpamgbo, SAN, then the Federal Attorney General and Minister of Justice, was present at the event. He made a statement that turned out to be prophetic when he said: “I urge young lawyers who are lazing around to emulate Mr Livy Uzoukwu in his drive to excel in his chosen profession. Hard work does not kill. He is a very dynamic and forward-looking young man who has made his impression at the Bar… He is an epitome of a good and industrious young man.' Dr Uzoukwu, SAN, has a chapter in the book Remedies for Foreign Sellers of Goods (Sweet and Maxwell, London, 1993); a chapter in the book. The Comparative Law Year Book of International Business (Kluwer Law International, London, 1998). He has chapters in several books published in Nigeria and articles published in Journals in Nigeria and abroad. His poems have been published in 6 Anthologies in the USA. He is the co-founder and co-editor of The Lawyers Journal and The Customary Court of Appeal Reports. He is also the founder and Editor-in-Chief of Abia Governorship Law Reports. Dr Uzoukwu, SAN, was profiled in the books Silk and Sound 100 Most Inspiring Senior Advocates of Nigeria—The Court Room Generals, Goodways Communication Ltd, Lagos, 2011 and Nigerias Top 100 lawyers, City Lawyers LTD, Lagos, 2015. In addition, he is cited in Butterworths International Law Directory 1991 (published by Reed PLC, Sussex, UK) and Newswatch Whos Who in Nigeria, 2nd Edition, 2001. He has been a co-opted member of the National Executive of the Nigerian Bar Association several times. The latest was during the tenure of Olu Akpata as President of the NBA. He led the Atiku-Obi-PDP Legal Team of 22 Senior Advocates of Nigeria and 18 other lawyers that challenged the result of the 2019 Presidential Election at the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. On 18 June 2022, His Grace Most Rev. AJV Obinna, then Catholic Archbishop of Owerri, conferred him with an award for his 'distinguished service and contributions during my 29-year tenure as Bishop/Archbishop of Owerri.' He has been conferred with several awards by the Church, its organisations and sodalities. He is the Chairman of the Building Council, St. Thomas More Catholic Church, New Owerri and a member of its Pastoral Council. He is a 4th Degree Knight of the Knights of St. Mulumba of the Catholic Church. He is happily married to Dr Tonia Uzoukwu, MSc, MBA, PhD (IMSU), PhD (FUTO), and they have six lovely children. Jennifer Obianuju Nwaneri Nwosu Esq. was called to the Nigerian Bar in the Year 1993 and has been in active Legal practice. She is an experienced lawyer with excellent management and Client Attorney skills.

She is a member of IMO STATE COMMITTEE ON ENDING VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND GIRLS (ISCEVWAG), which membership is in line with her passion for pursuing goals that will eradicate all forms of violence against women and girls and to stand up for the weak and vulnerable in the society. IMO STATE COMMITTEE ON ENDING VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND GIRLS (ISCEVWAG) championed the Domestication of the Violence against persons prohibition Act (VAPP) in Imo State. This Committee was in the forefront of fighting to ensure the domestication of the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act 2015 in Imo State, which was finally signed into law by His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodimma in December 2021.
