FUNCTIONS OF DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATION Preparation of briefs for Judicial Service Commission Statutory and Emergency meetings. Assists the Executive Secretary in the day to day running of the Commission, including the welfare of members. Management of all staff matters Appointments, promotions, postings, conversion/advancement, and confirmation of appointment discipline, petition and complaints, retirements.
 
In charge of Personnel Management Board for Junior Staff of the Commission. Assists the Executive Secretary in investigating petitions against judicial and non - judicial staff via the PMB. The Head of Admin acts as Chairman of PMB Junior Staff Committee (JSC) and Member senior staff committee (SSC).
 
Rendering of Returns to the Civil Service Commission and Head of Service. In charge of minor works, provision of office accommodation and upkeep of office premises. Maintenance of office equipment, building and vehicles. Preparation and updating of Nominal Roll/seniority list. Preparation of personnel budget estimate. Collects tasks and targets of all departments Staff welfare matters, etc. Any other duty which may be assigned by the Executive Secretary from time to time.

HOD Finance and Accounts

Functions of the finance and accounts department. The department is responsible or charged with the financial responsibility of processing, collecting and disbursement of monies for the Judicial Service Commission.
 
Maintains statutory books of Accounts in both hard and soft copies. The department is also responsible for rendering promptly all financial returns both monthly, quarterly and yearly progress report to the House of Assembly or Returns to the authorities in need of them. The department is in charge of disbursement of funds, proper monitoring and accounting for any revenue.
 
The department is made up of the following major units: 1.Payroll Unit 2. Other-charges Unit 3. Revenue Unit 4. Reconciliation Unit 5. Internal Audit Unit. The department reports to the Executive Secretary for its day to day functions.

HOD Planning, Research & Statistics

Functions of the department of Planning Research and Statistics. To articulate and prepare the annual estimate (Budget) of the Judicial Service Commission.
To make monthly, quarterly and annual revenue report to Ministry of Budget, Economics Planning and Statistics and office of Head of Service.
 
Collation of staff nominal roll and go ahead to analyze it for effective planning with respect to salary payments, promotions and vacancy creation.
 
Collation and analysis of monthly salary payments return from accounts dept and forward same to Ministry of Planning.
 
Preparation of monthly, quarterly and yearly returns on capital projects.
 
The Department of Planning, Research and statistics prepares the annual achievements of the Commission and may decide to represent it in a bar chart, pie chart, histogram etc that it can be seen at a glance, and any other duties as may be directed by the Commission/Secretary.

HOD Procurement

Functions of the department of Procurement.
Identifies office needs, conducts market surveys, and purchase items through the approved means which maybe by contract or direct purchases.
 
Assists with the purchase of stationeries, equipment, services and supplies for the Commission.
 
Implements, supervises and monitors any work embarked upon by the Commission and assists in undertaking constant market surveys.
 
The department has a store unit which normally reports to the procurement head, who is the Head of the Department.

Dissemination of information, policies and activities of the Commission through circulation of press releases to various media Houses.
 
Monitoring of media (Prints and Electronic) daily.
 
Ensure adequate press coverage of activities and programmes of the Commission.
 
Help in organizing press briefings for the Chairman of the Commission.
 
Preparation of draft speeches for the Secretary as the need arises.
 
Maintain cordial relationship with various Media Houses through regular visits and interactions.
 
Maintain steady link with the Ministry of Information and Strategy.
 
Safe keeping of photo album for records and reference purposes of JSC activities.
 
Constant update of JSC website.
